On Site Conference Volunteer Overview

The OD Network Conference relies on volunteers from the OD community to supplement our staff on-site and to perform a variety of responsibilities. We welcome you to join our 2010 Volunteer Team in New Orleans, October 15 - 20.

Each year dozens of on-site volunteers give back to their professional community and enhance their peers' learning experience by contributing their time without remuneration. We are most appreciative of this contribution and are able to offer some reduction of conference fees as a token of appreciation for volunteer time and effort. In accepting volunteers, preference is given to applications from students in OD programs and, in some instances, to local applicants.

Conference Volunteer Commitment and Responsibilities

You may be asked to cover a variety of duties for the entire span of your volunteer time slot. For example, you may serve as a workshop monitor, a general session monitor or perform general support tasks such as registration, exhibitor and speaker support.

If you are unable or unwilling to perform these responsibilities, please do not complete the application. Once assigned, if you do not perform in line with the guidelines, you will have your volunteer status revoked and you will be billed for the conference at the late registration conference rate.

Volunteer Assignments and Orientation

Assignments will generally be on a first come basis on the day you volunteer. Volunteers will receive an orientation session at that time outlining their specific responsibilities.

Volunteer Benefits and Registration Process

You may be asked to cover a variety of duties for the entire span of your volunteer time slot. For example, you may serve as a workshop monitor, a session monitor or perform general support tasks such as registration, exhibitor and speaker support. Our expectation is that when you sign-up you are willing to fulfill your volunteer obligations, regardless of the assignment you are given.

If you are unable or unwilling to perform these responsibilities, please do not complete the application. If you do not meet the expectations agreed to, then you will have your volunteer status revoked and you will be billed for the conference at the late registration conference rate.

On site Volunteer Assignments and Orientation

Assignments for specific activities will generally be on a first come basis on the day you volunteer. Volunteers will receive an orientation session at that time outlining their specific responsibilities.

Registration Process and Volunteer Appreciation

If you are applying for a volunteer role, please DO NOT register for the conference until you are notified of your acceptance as a volunteer. Upon your acceptance as a volunteer, you will able to register for the rest of the conference.

If you are NOT assigned a volunteer role, we will notify you and you will still be able to register at the early bird rates even if that deadline has passed.

The amount of the volunteer appreciation will be based on the number of assignments you agree to accept once the specific conference needs are finalized. Final determination of the appreciation will be determined by the Volunteer Co-Chairs. Discounted conference rates in the amount of $100 - $500 off the early bird member, non-member, student, and senior conference rates will be available to attend the conference on the days you do not have assignments.

The discounted registration rates will be provided once we receive your signed Volunteer Agreement Form accepting your assignments.

Are you willing to meet our 2010 on site Conference Volunteer Team agreements?

If you are, then Apply Now

Application Deadline: August 15, 2010

This system will accept applications even after the deadline. However, volunteer applications submitted after the August 15th deadline will only be considered on an "as needed" basis. We cannot guarantee either your acceptance as a volunteer or registration at the early bird rate if you apply after the deadline date of August 15, 2010.

We will be notifying you by mid-September on the status of your application to volunteer for the 2010 OD Network Conference in New Orleans.
